Yesterday was one of those days you wish you could pass over. Raheel’s cousin had been sick for quite some time. He was still young at 48 years old, with three kids in their 20s. On July 4, we got the news in the morning that he had passed away. He had been suffering for a long time from several different health issues but in the end he succumbed to a heart attack. He grew up and lived in the mountains of Virginia near Virginia Tech. Raheel spent many of his weekends at his cousin’s house swimming in the pool and taking in an amazing view. The funeral was on Saturday and we drove up through the mountains to be there with the family. Even when you know someone’s time is coming it does not make it any easier to deal with. Though it was a sad occasion it was nice time to reminisce about his cousin’s life and relive the good memories with all of his siblings, children, cousins, nephews, and nieces present. His cousin passed away at home just as he wanted in the mountains. This picture does not do justice to the view from their backyard. As hard as it is to lose someone it is of some comfort to know that s/he got their final wish.
